FAMILY & YOUTH SERVICES BUREAU COMMUNITY RESOURCES

U.S. Department of Health & Human services

Government consulting firm RTI International approached us to develop a series of community-focused resources for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB). FYSB provides support and guidance to community organizations that offer resources to address youth homelessness, adolescent pregnancy, domestic violence, and other issues that align with the FYSB mission.

To maximize the value of FYSB funding, RTI International requested digital collateral directed at project managers of organizations based and run in the community. The vast amounts of information provided necessitated design and layout that ensured the resources were read and successfully put to use.

The vast amounts of information necessitated design and layout that ensured different resources could be quickly found and easily absorbed.

The Community Saturation Toolkit and the Adulthood Preparation Subjects Resource Guide were designed with easily accessible linked navigation on every page so that readers could jump from one section to another without returning to the table of contents or scrolling through numerous pages.

 

Bright colors, photography, and custom illustration drew in readers and kept them engaged. Iconography and callouts supported content and aided in comprehension. Tables and planning tools were laid out to be large, often filling an entire page, so readers could focus on the information.
